Looking for classroom Christmas crafts that are writing activities AND your bulletin board? Each of these 4 crafts comes with bulletin board letters and a banner, so once your students finish their crafts, your Christmas board is pretty much done.
Every craft has writing prompts built in, too. Your students get to decorate AND write, and you get a December display without hunting down letters that kind of match.
Two of them are gingerbread crafts (a house and gingerbread people), and yes, they’re different. More on that below.
1. Ugly Sweater Writing Craft & Bulletin Board
They may be UGLY sweaters, but they are actually pretty darn adorable. Your students will co-create an ugly Christmas sweater bulletin board using sweater templates and writing prompts. The hand-drawn ugly sweater templates are unique and made just for this craft.
With 12 ugly sweater writing prompts included, every student can find one they actually want to write about. Pick your board message: “May Our Holidays Be Cozy & Bright,” “’Tis The Season To Get Cozy,” “Cozy & Bright,” “Cozy Season” or “Ugly Sweater Weather.”
The letters and banner are included, so the sweaters plus your message make the whole board. Bonus: go with “Cozy Season” or “Ugly Sweater Weather” and the board can stay up into January.

2. Stocking Craft & Bulletin Board
Your students design their own Christmas stocking with this classroom Christmas crafts. Then they pick from 10 writing prompts and fill out the writing page. There are 4 decoration pages with stocking toppers, pompom dangles, name tags, trees, bows and more, so every stocking ends up looking a little different.
Hang the stockings up with the included letters and banner, and your board is done. Pick your message: “The Stockings Were Hung With Care,” “Holly Jolly,” “Happy Holidays” or “Merry Christmas.”

3. Gingerbread House Craft & Bulletin Board
Gingerbread houses without the sticky icing? Yes, please. This gingerbread house craft comes with 3 gingerbread house templates for your students to decorate, plus writing prompts. There are 2 decoration pages packed with candy canes, wreaths, gumdrops, doors, windows and more.
One of the writing prompts asks, “If you designed a creative gingerbread house, what would it look like?” Students write about the rooms, decorations and yummy treats. It pairs really well with a graham cracker gingerbread house day.
Pick your message: “Baking Sweet Memories,” “The Sweetest Bunch,” “Happy Holidays” or “Merry Christmas.” The letters and banner are included, so the houses and your message fill the whole board.

4. Gingerbread Man Craft & Bulletin Board
Don’t mix this one up with the gingerbread house craft. They’re both gingerbread and they both come with a bulletin board, but they’re two different resources. This one has writing prompts like, “Imagine you’re a gingerbread cookie who doesn’t want to be eaten. Write about your adventure escaping from the kitchen.” Read your favourite version of The Gingerbread Man first and they’ll be ready to write their own escape story.
You get 4 gingerbread man templates (with or without icing and faces) and 2 pages of decorations like candy canes, sweaters and hot cocoa mugs. Use the plain ones if your students want to add their own icing and faces. There are 6 gingerbread man writing templates too, plus the letters, banner and a few bulletin board messages to pick from.

Tips for Putting Up Your Christmas Craft Board
- Split it over a few days. One day for writing, one for decorating and one to put it all together works for most classes.
- Prep the letters and banner while your students write. Then the board can go up the same day the last craft is done.
- Keep the extra decoration pages out for early finishers. They can add a few more details while everyone else wraps up.
- Hang it where families will see it, like the hallway outside your door before your Christmas concert.
Which Classroom Christmas Crafts Will You Pick?
Each of these classroom Christmas crafts gives you a writing activity and a full bulletin board in one. Want a board that can stay up into January? Go with the ugly sweaters. Want a classic? Stockings. Love gingerbread? Pick the house or the gingerbread people. Or both!
Your students make the crafts, the letters and banner finish it off, and your December board is done.
