How I Became Learn Grow Blossom

This quote means everything to me. It was what made me sure about my name choice: “Learn Grow Blossom”. Upon brainstorming for two weeks; I felt stuck. I wanted something that was catchy but also alluded to what I was like as a person and a teacher.

I knew I didn’t want a name that was attached to teaching a specific grade because I enjoy changing grades. I also didn’t want my connections with fellow teachers to rely solely on the fact that we teach a common grade. I knew I didn’t want a name that seemed too generic. I was caffeinatedin3rd for the first few weeks as I worked this all out. I didn’t like the name. Sure, it showed my love of coffee but it didn’t feel deep enough. I thought of “Where The Wild Things Learn” and absolutely loved it but then I realized that a few people had similar names. I was close to being teach.crossfit.repeat because I couldn’t think of something. Again, this wasn’t a bad name but it didn’t give the effect I wanted. Sure I love CrossFit, but this name said only two things about me: I teach and I workout. I wanted a name that showed people my soul.

I made a huge list in my notebook of all the things that relate to my personal life or my teaching life. Looking at that list now, it reminds me of the book “The Word Collector” by Peter H. Reynolds. Some of these words, in no particular order, were:
coffee, caffeine, flexible, inspired, inspiration, independence, creative, diversity, tech, unique, love, explore, adventures, Americano, coffee, caffeine, Starbucks, try new things, bookworm, energetic, spark, master, study, cafe, espresso, freedom, free, wild, java, kind, kindness, empathy, compassion, kindhearted, sparkle…

THEN I was on to it… bloom, blossom, grow, growing, planting… I figured I was finally on to something because these words actually went together! I started looking up quotes for inspiration. That’s when I stumbled upon the quote featured above. It spoke to me. I’ve considered “putting myself out there” for years. I was always interested in writing a blog, trying to create products for TpT, maybe having a podcast… I was never too sure but I knew I’d like to try. After seeing this quote, I knew it was time and just like that, I had my name.
