Getting crafty is a fun way to celebrate spooky season of Halloween. What better way to do that than with a fun Halloween classroom craft! Using this resource in your grade 2-6 classroom is a fun and interactive way to combine writing and crafting into one spooky, exciting project. The best part? You’ll be able to co-create a bulletin board with your students while you’re at it.

Three In One Resource

This all-in-one resource includes a Halloween classroom craft, a writing activity, bulletin board letters and banner pieces – everything you need to make a fa-boo-lous Halloween bulletin board.

Part One: The Halloween Classroom Craft

Your students will love this ghost Halloween classroom craft because they get to choose from the hand-drawn decorations to create their own personalized ghost. That means that students may choose to dress their ghost up as a cat, a unicorn, or add a cool mask. There are a ton of options to suit your students’ different styles.

Part Two: The Writing Activity

After their craft is complete, your students can move on to their writing task. Using writing prompts and templates included, they will get creative in crafting a piece of Halloween writing. The writing prompts are perfect for grades two to six. They are engaging and flexible for various writing levels and interests. Prompt examples include, “Describe the best Halloween costume you’ve had”, as well as “Write a spooky story” and “What makes our class fa-boo-lous?”

Part Three: The Bulletin Board Display

This Halloween classroom craft resource includes everything you need to co-create a fun, interactive bulletin board. That means inside this resource, you’ll find bulletin board letters (4 messages included) and a fun, colourful Halloween banner.

How to Use

  1. Print out everything you’ll be using for the Halloween classroom craft, writing task, and bulletin board. That means that for every student, you’ll print a ghost outline, decoration page (to save on paper, you can have students decide which decorations they’d like to have before printing), writing templates. Then, you’ll also print out which bulletin board letters and banner pieces you’d like to use.
  2. It’s time to get crafty! Students assemble and colour their ghosts. Felt markers are recommended so that your bulletin board is eye-catching and vibrant.
  3. Now, for the writing. Choose which writing prompts you would like to use. Will your class use the same prompt, to match one of the included bulletin board messaages? Or maybe you would like them to choose from all the writing prompts provided? Have your students write a good copy of their writing pieces on the ghost writing templates provided.
  4. Arrange your board to display your crafts and writing pieces!
  5. Stand back and admire your co-create Halloween bulletin board.
